SUSTAINABILITY

With many aspects of construction moving towards improved environmental and sustainable practices, additional duties and responsibilities are being introduced with every trade. An overview of the different rating systems, guiding principles, administrative requirements and aspects specific to roofing will be discussed. Students will learn which specific areas of their work contribute to the overall sustainability of a project.

LEAK DETECTION

Roofers will review old and new roof systems and the most likely cause of leaks. The roofers will examine the most effective way to use thermal scans and electronic leak monitoring to resolve problems.

PREREQUISITE

Reading assignment to be completed prior to class.
